Actual lumber: a 2×4 is 2 in × 4 in — found at a local private sawmill. Nominal: a 2×4 is 1.5 in × 3.5 in — found at most chain hardware/lumber stores.
A six-foot, open-front market stand for selling produce, flowers, eggs, or baked goods. The customer side is open with a serving counter; the back and sides are enclosed; a lower display shelf holds overflow; and a sign board across the top is ready for your name.
This is the actual-dimension, 4×4-post build: four notched 4×4 posts carry the shelves and a pair of 4×4 headers, framed first, then finished with deck boards, vertical siding, a sign board, and a shed roof. Every joint is a clean, hand-tool-friendly notch or birdsmouth — nothing fancier than a circular saw, a drill, and a chisel.
